Some of us have our childhood teachings so ingrained into our minds that we are unable to so much as question them at any point in our adult lives. When presented with new views and ideas that contradict our previous teachings, we often choose to stay in denial rather than to look forward. One of the reasons we do this is the guilt from objecting to the views that we were brought up with in our childhood, especially the views that our parents held on to so dearly. Many of us would rather have the comfort of knowing we are conforming to those who are closest to us than to look forward and grow as an individual. We should never allow guilt, shame or rejection from others to hold back any new views or ideas that we hold it our hearts. If we are to be true individuals, we must never allow our self-confidence to be conditioned. We should all be encouraged to follow our own path without guilt or shame. The world’s greatest achievements were made by true individuals, not by the masses who sought the approval of others.
